Democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) responded negatively after learning that her “unfavorable” ratings have been on the rise since she took office.

Seems the more people learn about the New York congresswoman, the less like like about her.

Which is, essentially, a microcosm of the American people’s reaction to socialism itself.

A new Gallup poll shows that while a good portion of Americans had little to no opinion of Ocasio-Cortez when she won her primary this past summer, things have changed significantly over the last few months.

And the more they learn, the more American voters do not like what they are seeing.

“The increased visibility has not improved her overall standing with Americans,” Gallup writes. “Whereas the public had mixed views of Ocasio-Cortez in September, her image now tilts slightly negative, with 31 percent viewing her favorably and 41 percent unfavorably.”

She’s 10 points underwater — not exactly a “slight” tilt, as Gallup describes.

She’s not happy. As per usual, Ocasio-Cortez responded to the poll by claiming it was fundamentally biased and misunderstanding how math works by suggesting that Gallup should have focused on the groups which had positive views of her only.

Not content with asserting that older white men should be dismissed as a demographic, which is extremely racist, Ocasio-Cortez directed her ire at Fox News — suggesting some sort of conspiracy theory that the network is out to get her.

It should be noted that Jane Mayer forever tarnished her career when she tried smearing Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh with false allegations by a one Debora Ramirez.

Now, while Ocasio-Cortez cherrypicked three groups with which she performs well, it behooves us to point out she remains underwater with many other groups aside from older, white men.

She has a negative “unfavorable” rating with all adults (-10), independents (-5), ages 35-54 (-9) and has seen a drop in numbers in nearly every category, including 18 to 34-year-olds (-7) and women (-3).

Maybe this is why. “Despite her undeniable uniqueness,” Gallup reports, “Ocasio-Cortez’s image is now much like most of her congressional peers, whose negative ratings generally outweigh their positive ones.”

So how did she go from being the darling of the congressional scene to just another member that Americans look at with disdain?

Perhaps voters don’t take too kindly to having their country called “garbage,” as Ocasio-Cortez did recently.

Perhaps they don’t appreciate having law enforcement such as ICE smeared by saying they “incarcerate children and sexually assault women with impunity.”

Or maybe they don’t enjoy having their religion mocked in the wake of a terrorist attack involving victims specifically targeted due to their faith, as she did last week.

Whatever the reason, it’s clear the American people are beginning to reject the shiny new socialist gem from New York.
