Most of us are fascinated with the idea of being able to perform a miracle, work magic, or possess supernatural powers.

To have power over nature so as to fly like Superman, to make a dove appear in a hat, to heal cancer — those would all be amazing powers to possess, right?

God possesses all these extraordinary powers over the elements of nature.

But there is a greater power He possesses and He gives it to us every day.

It’s called the power of love.

Love exceeds even the greatest miracle because it engages our heart, which was created in God’s image.

God gives us the ability to love.

He also gives us the choice.

Why?

He is Lord of Creation.

But He does not force humans to love Him — that would contradict the very essence of love.

Instead, He showed us how to do it.

The Bible says: “For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die — but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans‬ ‭5:6-8‬).

God’s unfathomable love for us is the greatest miracle we can experience because it will transform our heart.

We are hard-pressed to begin to even comprehend the upper limitation of giving or receiving it.

The ultimate miracle of love was demonstrated in the sacrifice of Jesus, who died for us even though He knew we would continue to commit crimes against His love.

When we learn to love like God does, then the assaults against our love are borne by His love within us.

When we live in the miracle of God’s love, we are enabled to love those who hurt us.

It truly is a miracle when we can love someone like ourselves.

We possess the magical miracle of love when our heart and mind live surrendered to God — who is love.
