Governor Pete Ricketts has announced that Nebraska will send state troopers to Texas to help manage the border crisis.

Ricketts, who made the announcement in a press release over the weekend, says the move is in response to Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s call for emergency resources.

“Nebraska is stepping up to help Texas respond to the ongoing crisis on their border with Mexico,” said the Cornhusker State governor.

He then ripped the White House for policies he believes helped create the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

“The disastrous policies of the Biden-Harris Administration created an immigration crisis on the border,” Ricketts blamed.

“While the federal government has fallen short in its response, Nebraska is happy to step up to provide assistance to Texas as they work to protect their communities and keep people safe.”

Nebraska Governor Sending Troopers to Texas to Help With Border Crisis

The move by Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts comes as at least one other Republican governor is stepping up to help border states like Texas and Arizona in dealing with the crisis.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said he would send law officers to those border states last week.

“I’m proud to announce today that the state of Florida is answering the call,” he said. “Florida has your back.”

“We have problems in Florida that are not organic to Florida, that we’ve been forced to deal with over many years but particularly over the last six months,” continued DeSantis.

He argued these problems are “because of the failure of the Biden administration to secure our southern border and indeed to really do anything constructive about what is going on in the southern border.”

Biden’s Border Crisis

The Republican focus on the border crisis has been ongoing as the Biden administration struggles to cope with a surge of illegal immigrants at historic rates.

Axios reported earlier this month that “the number of migrants illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border this fiscal year is already the most since 2006 — with four months left to go.”

Former President Donald Trump announced that he’s accepted an invitation from Abbott to visit the southern border, something ‘border czar’ Vice President Kamala Harris has yet to do.

“The Biden Administration inherited from me the strongest, safest, and most secure border in U.S history, and in mere weeks they turned it into the single worst border crisis in U.S history,” Trump claimed.

DeSantis agrees.

“The Biden Administration ended policies implemented by President Trump that were curbing illegal immigration, securing our border, and keeping Americans safe,” he asserted.

Ricketts’ office told Fox News that roughly 25 Nebraska state troopers would travel to Del Rio, Texas, for a little over two weeks.

The troopers will work in conjunction with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
