According to reports, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is yet again pushing for Americans to partake in the routine “stay home, save lives” charade for the 2021 holiday season by advising unvaccinated Americans to avoid travel until they’re fully vaccinated.

Since the onset of the pandemic in 2020, the old adage of “home for the holidays” carries a new meaning, one that carries a connotation of an issued directive rather than one conveying a warm sentiment.

Much like the holiday season of 2020 when the CDC was urging Americans to avoid travel and large gatherings that are typical amidst the holiday season – the same rigmarole is again being perpetuated by the federal agency.

Although this time, the guidance is being directed toward those who aren’t fully vaccinated.

On October 15th, the CDC issued their latest guidelines for “Safer Ways to Celebrate Holidays” for the 2021 season, with the theme centering around vaccination:

“Holiday traditions are important for families and children. There are several ways to enjoy holiday traditions and protect your health. Because many generations tend to gather to celebrate holidays, the best way to minimize COVID-19 risk and keep your family and friends safer is to get vaccinated if you’re eligible.”

Of course, there were noted suggestions that those who are unvaccinated and attending gatherings should be wearing a face covering. But the same updated guidance from the CDC also pointed out that even the fully vaccinated should be masking up too:

“Wear well-fitting masks over your nose and mouth if you are in public indoor settings if you are not fully vaccinated…Even those who are fully vaccinated should wear a mask in public indoor settings in communities with substantial to high transmission.”

But the constant reiterated theme from the CDC’s latest guidance was for the unvaccinated to avoid traveling this year:

“If you are considering traveling for a holiday or event, visit CDC’s Travel page to help you decide what is best for you and your family. CDC still recommends delaying travel until you are fully vaccinated.”

Alas, the CDC continues to perpetuate the concept of literally being home for the holidays.
