James Carville, the fiery Democratic strategist, didn’t hold back when criticizing the younger progressive staffers in Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign.
According to reports, these staffers strongly opposed Harris appearing on “The Joe Rogan Experience,” fearing potential backlash from their ideological base, as reported by The Daily Caller.
Carville, never one to mince words, called out their behavior in a recent YouTube video, slamming their influence on Harris’ decision-making.

“A lot of the younger progressive staffers pitched a hissy fit,” Carville explained, addressing the internal resistance within Harris’ camp. He added, “When you put a campaign together and you hire young people to do work, let me tell you exactly what you tell these people — what I would tell ’em. Not only am I not interested in your f**king opinion, I’m not even gonna call you by your name. You’re 23 years old. I don’t really give a sh*t what you think.”
The potential appearance on Joe Rogan’s wildly popular podcast was reportedly floated as a way to strengthen Harris’ appeal with male voters, a demographic where Democrats have been losing ground.
However, senior adviser Jennifer Palmieri revealed on Nov. 13 that “progressive staff” within the campaign opposed the move, citing backlash concerns, as reported by The Financial Times.
Carville didn’t mince words about the mistake of listening to these younger staffers. He described campaigns as inherently authoritarian, dismissing the notion that they need to reflect “progressive values.”
“And if I were running a 2028 campaign and I had some little snot-nosed 23-year-old saying, ‘I’m going to resign if you don’t do this,’ not only would I fire that motherfucker on the spot, I would find out who hired them and fire that person on the spot. I’m really not interested in your uninformed, stupid, jackass opinion as to whether you go on Joe Rogan or not.”
This isn’t the first time Carville has raised the alarm about the Democratic Party’s struggles with male voters. On MSNBC’s Morning Joe, he told host Joe Scarborough that Democrats face challenges not just with white men but across all demographics.
“We don’t need to be shouted down by Washington liberal advocacy groups or NPR,” he warned.
Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump has been capitalizing on the podcast medium, making a three-hour appearance on Rogan’s show in October that drew over 51 million views on YouTube. Trump’s growing support among Hispanic and Black men underscores the urgency for Democrats to reevaluate their strategy.
As Carville pointed out, dismissing platforms like Rogan’s—a cultural juggernaut with massive reach—only limits their ability to connect with broader audiences.
Whether Harris heeds this advice in the future remains to be seen, but it’s clear her 2024 campaign faces mounting challenges, both internally and at the ballot box.
