President-elect Donald Trump has confirmed plans to declare a national emergency to launch a mass deportation program aimed at removing illegal immigrants. The announcement, made on Truth Social, signals a major shift in immigration enforcement under the incoming administration.
As reported by The Washington Examiner, Trump’s response came after Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, posted, “GOOD NEWS: Reports are the incoming @RealDonaldTrump administration prepared to declare a national emergency and will use military assets to reverse the Biden invasion through a mass deportation program.”

Trump simply replied, “TRUE!!”
During his campaign, Trump pledged to tackle illegal immigration head-on, promising to deport more individuals living in the U.S. illegally than any previous administration. His firm stance was a cornerstone of his platform and resonated deeply with his voter base.
To spearhead the effort, Trump has tapped Tom Homan, former acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, to serve as the administration’s “border czar.” Homan, known for his no-nonsense approach to immigration enforcement, underscored the plan’s focus on public safety and national security.

“President Trump’s been clear: public safety threats and national security threats will be the priority because they have to be. They pose the most danger to this country,” Homan stated. He further emphasized prioritizing the deportation of illegal immigrants who have already been ordered to leave by federal judges but defied those orders.
“We’re going to prioritize those groups—those who already have final orders, those that had due process at great taxpayer expense, and the federal judge says you must go home. And that didn’t. They became a fugitive,” Homan explained.
Acknowledging anticipated criticism, Homan defended the program’s enforcement of the law. “You have a right to claim asylum. You have a right to see a judge, and we make that happen, but at the end of that due process, when the judge says, ‘You must go home,’ then we have to take them home because if we’re not, what the hell are we doing?”
According to estimates reported by the Wall Street Journal, approximately 1.3 million illegal immigrants remain in the U.S. despite having been ordered to leave. With military assets poised to assist, Trump’s administration is set to make good on its promise to enforce immigration laws.
