The Carlson family name has made its way into the Trump administration once again. Buckley Carlson, son of conservative firebrand Tucker Carlson, has been appointed as deputy press secretary for J.D. Vance, solidifying his place in the political sphere, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.
The appointment was first reported by ABC News, emphasizing Buckley’s impressive experience and commitment to conservative principles.
Born in 1997, Buckley Carlson graduated from the University of Virginia with a bachelor’s degree in government and political science. His foray into politics began shortly after, with an internship in the White House during the Trump administration.

From there, he joined the office of Representative Jim Banks (R-IN) in 2019, where he climbed the ranks, serving as staff assistant, press secretary, and eventually communications director. Buckley’s swift ascent in Washington reflects his dedication to conservative causes and his family’s strong political roots.

Interestingly, Buckley shares his name with the legendary conservative intellectual William F. Buckley Jr., founder of National Review. However, Tucker Carlson has expressed critical views about Buckley Jr.’s legacy.
In a 2023 interview with comedian Dave Smith, Tucker went so far as to describe the late conservative icon as “one of the great villains of the 20th century.” This remark added a controversial twist to the Carlson family’s relationship with conservative history.
Meanwhile, Tucker Carlson has been busy building his own post-Fox News empire. After his unceremonious ousting in 2023, Tucker launched the Tucker Carlson Network, an independent media venture that has kept him at the forefront of conservative commentary.
His influence extends beyond the media, as multiple reports suggest that Tucker played a pivotal role in Donald Trump’s selection of J.D. Vance as his running mate.
Tucker’s advocacy for Vance reportedly helped edge out other contenders, including Marco Rubio and Doug Burgum, during the decision-making process.
Buckley, the only son of Tucker and his wife Susie, is the second of their four children. While Tucker’s outspoken views often dominate headlines, Buckley’s entry into the Trump administration marks a new chapter for the Carlson legacy, blending family ties with political ambition.
With Buckley stepping into this high-profile role, the younger Carlson is poised to make his mark on the next chapter of conservative politics.
