The Red Raiders fell to Houston 69-61, missing an opportunity to complete the season sweep over their in-state rivals.
Mahomes attended the game with his wife, Brittany, in their home state of Texas, just over two weeks after the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LVIII loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, 40-22.

Despite the disappointment, the quarterback appeared to be enjoying his time off as he took in the college basketball action.
Off the field, Mahomes and his family have recently been in the headlines.
Reports surfaced that Mahomes and Brittany intervened to prevent an altercation between Mahomes’ father, Patrick Mahomes Sr., and former Atlanta Braves pitcher John Rocker.
The alleged incident was mentioned by Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, who had planned to host a boxing event where the two were rumored to face off.
With the Super Bowl loss behind him, Mahomes has been keeping busy during the offseason.
The quarterback has also debuted a new haircut following the Chiefs’ defeat—his second Super Bowl loss since becoming Kansas City’s starter.
Mahomes played three seasons at Texas Tech under head coach Kliff Kingsbury before declaring for the 2017 NFL Draft, where he was selected 10th overall by the Chiefs.
Since then, he has become one of the league’s top quarterbacks, leading Kansas City to two Super Bowl victories and earning multiple MVP honors.
