Florida Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna has strongly pushed back against media reports claiming that President Donald Trump made an inappropriate comment to her while she was pregnant.

WASHINGTON, DC – October 26, 2023: U.S. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) talks on the phone while walking out of the Capitol.

The allegations surfaced in a new book, “Revenge: The Inside Story of Trump’s Return to Power” by Axios reporter Alex Isenstadt, and were amplified by The Daily Beast.

The claim in question alleges that during a 2023 flight on Trump’s personal jet, Trump offered Luna a place to rest, as she was experiencing pregnancy-related health issues.

According to Isenstadt’s book, Trump told Luna:

“If you need a bed to lay down in, there’s one here on the plane. If you feel sick and you need to lay there, you can lay on it.”

He then reportedly joked:

“Just don’t tell Melania. She doesn’t like other women on my bed.”

Despite the comment being framed as a lighthearted joke, media outlets presented it as a serious revelation about Trump’s marriage and character.

Luna took to social media to address the claims, calling out The Daily Beast and the book’s author for misrepresenting the situation.

She emphasized that the offer was made in front of her husband, was entirely respectful, and was a gesture of kindness from Trump.

In her post, Luna stated:

“I seldom respond to nasty headlines because I don’t like giving trash credibility. However, being that there is allegedly a book coming out with me named and attacking @POTUS, his marriage, our First Lady, and frankly implying something distasteful about me, I am responding.”

She explained that at the time of the flight, she was experiencing symptoms of pre-eclampsia, though she had not yet been diagnosed.

“As soon as @realDonaldTrump boarded the plane, being the gentleman and good person that he is, said if I did not feel well, I could use the back room. He did this in a respectful way and in front of my husband, of which we thanked him. He also assured me that they had a medical team on board in case anything happened and they were aware of how pregnant I was.”

Luna then criticized Isenstadt for failing to reach out for comment or clarification, further calling into question the credibility of his book.

“The author of this book never reached out to me for comment, which means that this book is likely going to be a hit piece. If people in POTUS’ orbit are talking to this author, they need to be cut off immediately. This is gross.”

Luna’s response highlights concerns about media bias and the misrepresentation of Trump’s interactions.

The Daily Beast, which has been known for its critical coverage of Trump, ran with the story in a way that implied scandal rather than presenting the full context.

The situation has also raised questions about who within Trump’s orbit provided information to the book’s author and whether the story was intentionally leaked to create a negative narrative.

Trump allies have condemned the media portrayal of the incident, with many calling for greater scrutiny of political reporting.

Some have suggested that outlets publishing misleading stories should have their White House press credentials reviewed.

The controversy serves as yet another example of how Trump-related stories are framed in the media, often omitting key context to push a negative narrative.

Luna’s response has further reinforced her support for Trump and dismissal of media attempts to create controversy where none existed.
