Minnesota’s Democrat Governor Tim Walz hit the panic button Thursday after President Donald Trump followed through on his long-promised move to dismantle the Department of Education.
In an unhinged appearance on MSNBC, Walz unloaded on Trump and conservatives, warning—without a shred of evidence—that shutting down the Department would somehow bring back segregation in American schools, as reported by The Daily Caller.

President Trump’s executive order tasks Education Secretary Linda McMahon with shutting down the agency in an efficient, lawful manner.

The move came just one week after the Department revealed it had already slashed its workforce by nearly 50% through layoffs and buyouts.
For conservatives who’ve long seen the bloated federal bureaucracy as a threat to local control, the moment was a win for parental rights and educational freedom.
🍎🇺🇸 @POTUS is bringing education back to the STATES.
“Everybody knows it’s right. We have to get our children educated. We’re not doing well with the world of education in this country and we haven’t in a long time.” – President Donald J. Trump pic.twitter.com/pQHwczF4jv

Walz, however, wasn’t celebrating. Instead, he launched into a nearly two-minute tirade on MSNBC, railing against the order and bizarrely invoking his own child to score political points.
“Well, we knew it was coming, but it’s still a day that I dreaded. I dreaded it as a teacher, as a parent, certainly as a governor now, and the sad part for me about this is, is Donald Trump doesn’t know anything about education.”
According to Walz, conservatives just want to “crush the public education system” and funnel money into non-existent private schools. What he didn’t mention?
Those same public schools have seen plummeting math and reading scores in the wake of the pandemic, according to the National Center for Education Statistics. The 2024 Nation’s Report Card shows academic performance at its lowest in decades.
But instead of focusing on real solutions, national teachers unions have spent their time defending critical race theory, gender ideology, and pushing leftist agendas—while parents voiced their outrage.
“We’re going to be returning education very simply BACK TO THE STATES where it belongs, and we want to have our children well educated and we want them to love going to school.” – President Donald J. Trump 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/ZSG4mb5sQi

Walz took things further, saying Trump’s actions would “undermine some of the missions of the department of Ed,” including ensuring equal education “regardless of race, religion or abilities.”
He then made the leap to segregation:
“This is about the civil rights department and the Department of Education that makes sure that we don’t have a situation where a Ruby Bridges is escorted to school with police. And so we’re back in an era where we can segregate.”
That’s quite the stretch—even for MSNBC.
Tim Walz falsely says that “we’re back in an area where we can segregate” schools. He’s not only lying, he knows he’s lying. It’s still in fact illegal to segregate schools based on race and no one is trying to change that.

Meanwhile, Secretary McMahon reassured the public that core services wouldn’t be affected.
“Closing the Department does not mean cutting off funds from those who depend on them—we will continue to support K-12 students, students with special needs, college student borrowers, and others who rely on essential programs.”
She emphasized that the transition would be handled lawfully, with Congress involved every step of the way.
The truth is, conservatives aren’t trying to bring back segregation. They’re trying to get the federal government out of the way so local communities and parents can take back control of their children’s education.
That’s what terrifies the left—and what led to Walz’s dramatic meltdown.

We are now beginning to see how blessed we are that the two genius’-Harris and Walz- didn’t get elected.
It is truly a sad thing to watch and listen to people lie and try to manipulate the conversation to truly doomsday speak. The Dept. of Education should never of been taken over by the government and looking at the evidence of how bad the US education system has become is an indicator that does nothing but prove it. Everything needs to be done to ensure these lunatics never can get in power again until their crazy ideology is totally destroyed.
Whether the DOE or it’s latest champions Walz, Maddow, or the teachers’ union president Randi Weingarten, the entire thing is emblematic of the Soviet Democrats’ political strategy:
Please Believe Us, Don’t Believe Your Lying Eyes™
Politicians of both sides have poured hundreds of billions of dollars into the Department of Education since President Carter got Congress to legislate this bureaucracy into existence. Despite that massive federal expenditure, the quality of our childrens’ education has gone DOWN, not up.
National testing of school children’s competence in basic skills like math and reading has revealed that we now rank somewhere around 43d in the world, despite being the nation well above others in spending per student.
If we don’t mind our tax dollars being wasted and given to political apparatchiks like Randi Weingarten to spend on their political goals and on teachers instead of students, shouldn’t we at least be concerned that our children are being abused and cheated of the basic public school education they need?
Meanwhile, here we have Command Sergeant Major Tim Walz, also a heroic and highly skilled educator.
This cut like a marshmallow former Command Sergeant Major happily played the part of representing what the average American blue collar man looked and acted like. Seasoned war veteran, apparently. Seasoned winning football coach, apparently. Seasoned hunter and knowledgeable gun owner, apparently.
And now with that background, claims he can kick the asses of pretty much anyone in the MAGA crowd – apparently that would include the Trump voters with similar backgrounds of his age.
My wife, a registered architect, all 123 lbs of her, could probably kick his Charmin soft ass to the curb by going full wild weasel on his poser wannabe persona.
I’m not disturbed by the cultural and political theology and rantings of Walz, Maddow, Weingarten and the others. Quite the opposite.
They tried this as their campaign strategy leading up to the 2024 election and Trump’s election was the result. I hope they don’t change a single thing of what they’re saying and doing in the leadup to the 2026 midterm elections.
Hopefully that will mitigate some of the mistakes Trump is making that are detracting from his successes as midterms are usually not favorable to the president in power.
