Mark Ruffalo and Robert De Niro delivered furious, profanity packed attacks on President Donald Trump during the Hands Off Our Vote event in New York City on Sunday, October 4.

Their speeches put celebrity outrage at the center of the voting rights rally.

Variety reported that Ruffalo spoke to the crowd before the November 3 midterm elections. De Niro and comedian Mo Amer were among the other celebrities participating in the event, which focused on voting rights and encouraging Americans to cast ballots.

Ruffalo offered anything but a restrained political endorsement.

The actor brought his Marvel fame into the confrontation after telling the crowd that the midterms represented a “big, big deal” and then directing his anger squarely at Trump.

“We gotta get this dumbass, fool ass, tired ass, lame ass, duck ass out of office,” Ruffalo said.

He later declared, “Trump, we’re not letting you! Hands off our —-ing vote!”

The speech quickly produced a reference to Ruffalo’s role as Bruce Banner and the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

After someone in the audience shouted, “You tell ’em, Hulk!” Ruffalo laughed and played along.

“I’m gonna Hulk out. You won’t like me when I’m angry,” Ruffalo replied. Entertainment Weekly also reported on the exchange, which came as the actor emphasized the importance of the approaching midterm elections.

Before concluding his appearance, Ruffalo shifted from insults to a broader appeal for courage and unity among those attending.

“We can’t hide. We have to be together and we have to fight for each other and we have to be brave,” he said.

De Niro matched Ruffalo’s confrontational approach when he took the stage.

Far Out Magazine reported that the veteran actor accused the Trump administration of attempting to strip power from voters and demanded that Trump keep his “damn hands off our vote.”

“When masked and armed ICE thugs stalk our polling places, what do we say to them?” De Niro asked the crowd.

His question prompted an audience response before he intensified his criticism of the president.

“And when that coward, that —-ing piece of shit Donald Trump tries to take our voice and power away, what do we tell him?” De Niro said. The crowd responded with another demand to keep “your —-ing hands off our vote.”

The heated appearances were not sudden turns into political activism for either actor.

Ruffalo had attacked Trump months earlier at the Golden Globes in January, calling him the “worst human being” while discussing his concerns about the country’s direction.

Variety reported that Ruffalo wore a “Be Good” pin during the awards ceremony.

At the event, he also said, “This is not normal anymore,” continuing the outspoken political stance he displayed again at the New York rally.

De Niro’s public feud with Trump reaches further back. During a February appearance on The Best People with Nicolle Wallace, he accused Trump of “destroying” the United States, urged Americans to “resist” and called the president an “enemy of this country.”

The actor, known for movies including Taxi Driver, Goodfellas and Casino, has become one of Hollywood’s loudest political voices.

His appearance alongside Ruffalo offered another forceful example, with both men using blunt insults while urging voters to participate.

Indivisible organized the October 4 gathering as part of its 2026 election protection campaign.

According to the organization, Hands Off Our Vote encourages participation, promotes early voting and prepares supporters to respond to what the group considers threats to voting rights and election administration.

The New York event was livestreamed nationally from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. ET.

Organizers said the broadcast aimed to provide practical information to voters and encourage participation before the midterms, while Ruffalo and De Niro supplied the rally’s most explosive moments.
